Are you concerned about buying ethical products?
Fair Trade is an initiative which aims to pay farmers, farm workers and artisans in the third world a living wage for their products. Products from companies which pay fair trade prices will carry a logo indicating their participation in this initiative which aims to help people maintain a reasonable standard of living, provide safe working conditions, foster environmentally sustainable practices, to provide opportunities for the economically disadvantaged and to provide assistance to producers. For a small amount extra on the price of a product, for example 10p more for a pack of coffee, buying fair trade goods can help farm workers to provide for their families.
You can buy a wide range of fair trade products including fruit, coffee, tea, chocolate, sugar, fruit juice, roses, footballs and wine. Use the recommended websites to find places which sell fair trade products and to find more information.
