A major travel agency in Dubai has announced a 25 per cent rise in its summer business suggesting that the UAE is gaining in popularity as a tourist destination.
Sharjah National Travel & Tourist Agency (SNTTA) says that it has experienced a particular boom in leisure tourism whilst its business and corporate sections have remained more steady.
Zafar Imam, general manager of SNTTA, suggested that travellers were turning away from more traditional destinations such as Europe and championed Dubai as a holiday destination.
"Travel is an important part of the lifestyle in this region and planned leisure trips for the entire family are gaining increasing importance," he said.
SNTTA recently finished its 75 day 'Fly Free Anywhere' campaign which gave customers the chance to win back the price of their airline ticket. It gave away 75 tickets on 75 days.
