The Philippines are trying to attract Japanese tourists by offering them the opportunity to have an island named after them.
A total of 25 islands are up for grabs in a raffle open to Japanese tourists and set to be launched in October.
Kyodo News reported that the 25 islands are approximately 250 kilometres from Manila.
On an eight-day tour to Japan, Joseph Durano, the Philippine tourism secretary, announced that: " We [the Philippines] expect to generate tremendous excitement and awareness during the campaign."
The Philippines contains a total of 7,107 islands and tourists can lap up the sun and sea as well as taking part in more adventurous activities such as swimming near sharks and meeting mountain tribes.
